Woven Structure Division
Satin and satin weave
A fabric weave in which the individual weave points on two adjacent warp or weft yarns are evenly distributed but not continuous. Satin weave is divided into warp satin and weft satin. It is the most complex of the three original organizations. One point in the satin weave is covered by two floating long threads of adjacent warp or weft yarns. The fabric surface is smooth and even, the texture is soft, shiny or slightly textured. Satin fabrics are widely used and are often used as quilts, clothing, uppers and decorative fabrics.
Satin weave can be expressed as a fraction, with the numerator representing the number of yarns in a weaving cycle, referred to as the number of yarns; the denominator representing the number of yarns, the number of warp yarns for warp satin, and the number of weft yarns for weft satin. For satin weave, the number of yarns in one weaving cycle shall not be less than 5, and the number of wefts shall be greater than 1 and less than the number of yarns in the weaving cycle minus 1. The number of wefts and the number of weaving cycles should be mutually prime. Commonly used satin weave loop yarn count is 5, 8, 12, 16, etc. The larger the loop yarn count, the longer the yarn floats on the surface of the fabric, the better the gloss, the softer the fabric, but the worse the fastness.
The surface of the warp satin cloth is mostly covered by the floating length of the warp yarn. In order to highlight the warp effect, the warp tightness must be greater than the weft tightness. The general ratio of longitude to latitude is about 5:3, such as straight gong. Sudan, etc. The surface of the weft satin fabric is mostly covered by the floating length of the weft yarn. In order to highlight the weft effect, the warp tightness must be less than the weft tightness. General density ratio of 2:3 or so, such as horizontal satin.
In order to make satin fabrics soft, yarns with less twist are often used. The twist direction of the yarn has a certain effect on the appearance of the satin fabric. The warp or weft satin weft on the fabric is the same as the weave direction of the fabric, and the fabric has a good surface gloss, such as horizontal satin. If these yarns are twisted in the opposite direction to the fabric, the surface of the satin fabric is textured, such as a weaver.
On the basis of satin weave, many satin weave can be evolved. For example, add a single point or multiple points around the warp or weft knitting to form a reinforced satin weave; use different numbers of flying needles in a weaving cycle to form a variable satin weave. For example, six variations are satin weave. The number of flight directions is 2, 3, 4, 4, 3, 2; the warp or weft weave points are unfolded to form a thick satin weave, which is often used in handkerchief weaving. The combination of satin weave and other weave can form fabrics such as satin poplin and satin handkerchief.
twill weave
The continuous warp (weft) weave points on adjacent warp (weft) yarns are arranged diagonally, and the fabric surface presents a continuous diagonal weave. The twill weave has at least 3 yarns in one weaving cycle. Woven twill fabrics are more complex than plain fabrics and require at least 3 pages of heald frames. The emergence of twill fabric marked a significant development in weaving technology and fabric structure. China already had twill in the Yin Shang era. Silk fabrics are made from twill weave and its variants. Twill weave a wide range of applications, such as cotton, wool fabric in the khaki, serge, gabardine, silk fabric in the United States silk. Compared with the plain weave, the twill weave has a larger warp (weft) floating length, so the fabric structure is relatively soft under the same number of yarns (count) and warp and weft density. A greater density of warp and weft is configured to obtain a tightly structured fabric. There are three types of twill weave: warp twill with many warp weave points, weft twill with many weft weave points, and double-sided twill with the same number of warp weft points. The diagonal direction of the twill is divided into left and right diagonals. Typically, twill weave is represented by fractions with diagonal arrows. The twill direction of the twill weave is selected mainly according to the twisting direction of the yarns constituting the twill weave on the surface of the fabric. If the twist direction is opposite to the weaving diagonal, the diagonal is clearer, otherwise the diagonal is blurred. Therefore, when using "Z" twisted single yarn as warp and weft, when using warp twill weave, it is appropriate to choose left oblique; when using weft twill weave, it should choose right oblique.
On the basis of twill weave, increasing longitude and latitude points and changing the twill weave can evolve a variety of twill weave directions, flight times, or use both methods at the same time. ① strengthen twill: on the basis of the twill weave to increase the formation of the warp and weft points. The most common application is to strengthen double-sided twill; composite twill: generally more twill tissue, the fabric surface presents a set of different widths and depths of twill; ③ angle twill: change the value of the flying number can change the tilt angle of the organization diagonal. Commonly used is the tilt angle is greater than 45 ° of the organization, the warp yarn density is larger, so that the weaving diagonal is full and steep. Combed wool fabrics such as chocolate and tribute are twill twill; ④ mountain twill: a mountain-shaped weaving structure arranged diagonally in the left and right directions); ⑤ broken twill: a certain amount of twill in the left and right directions needs to be arranged to make the weaving twill suddenly interrupted. In addition, there are shadow twill, diamond twill, curve twill, etc., mostly named after texture images. Twill weaving is one of the main weaving methods used to increase the weaving pattern.
